This will be a short post with a few updates about things happening with "Ballet with Miss Rachel" classes, but first I want to let you all know about an exciting opportunity happening on April 2.
This Saturday at 7:30pm, Alonzo King's LINES Ballet will be coming to Virginia Tech. I already have my tickets to see them! Do you have yours? If you are unfamiliar with LINES Ballet, they are a company from San Fransisco directed by Alonzo King that is committed to performing contemporary works by classically trained ballet dancers. Sometimes dances are choreographed "en pointe", sometimes not, but no matter what, they are visually beautiful as well as thought provoking. Take a moment to watch the videos on this link to grasp a better understanding of what the LINES Ballet is all about. I hope I will see you there- and remember, children 12 & under are free! Class Updates - NO CLASSES will be held March 28 due to Easter/Spring Break. Classes will resume Tuesday, March 29th. - If you or someone you know is interested in dancing, remember that enrollment for Spring Session 2016 ends April 5th. After that, interested families should check out summer classes! - Look for summer information the first week of April on the website! I am looking forward to offering classes in June for students who are new to dance as well as camps in July for dancers with experience. You can check out more details here soon. - Details about our Spring Performance & Celebration will be emailed as soon as they are finalized. In the meantime, if you have not already done so, please email me at missrachelballet@gmail.com with any schedule conflicts around the week-ends of May 27-29 and June 3-5. I hope you have all had a relaxing spring break & a Happy Easter with your families! Until I see you again... Keep Dancing! Rachel

This month is an exciting time as we begin our first season of dance together. After meeting with one of the owners of Downey Dog Yoga yesterday for the first time, I am even more grateful that they are allowing us to use their facilities. Kim & Courtney have welcomed us with open arms and hearts to use their beautiful space and I am looking forward to having "Ballet with Miss Rachel" be just one part of the community centered offerings and events that happen at 1301 Downey Street. This exciting week is going to be full of fun, energy and ballet as we begin classes together. Here is what you need to know for the month of March!
Wow!!!
I am so excited to be getting back to teaching dance in the coming weeks and I am even more thrilled to have many new students (and some of my former students) joining me in the ballet studio! For parents, I think you will love being able to see updates easily here (such as a closing for inclement weather or recital information updates) as well as the convenience of enrolling online. This will also be a great place to post pictures of the fun and learning we do in class! If you are new, you can start by reading about what you can expect from classes with me and my philosophy about teaching on the About page. Then check out the Classes, Schedule & Tuition rates. If you love lots of details, you can contact me to receive a full updated information packet. Spring 2016 Why start classes in March you might ask? This three month spring session is just long enough to get some good ballet training under our belts and put on a great Spring Performance & Celebration at the end of the semester. Just like in school, when we go too long without studying, both our bodies & minds begin to forget things. Each semester of study builds on the previous one to produce dancers who are both proficient and confident in their abilities! Thank you so much for visiting the site! Take a moment to look around and feel free to contact me with any questions. I can't wait to get started! Keep on dancing! Miss Rachel |
